Dipl. Ing. Karim El-Ishmawi, born 7 February 1974, attended the Technical University in Berlin majoring in architecture. The award of a foreign exchange scholarship lead him to the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. In the course of his college years, he worked with Alsop & Stoermer Architects in Hamburg, with Dan Pearlman Event & Brand Architecture in Berlin as well as with Liederbach & Graham Architects in Chicago. In cooperation with Chris Middleton, he received several awards and prizes for film and architectural design contest entries.
