LOFT HERZOGENRATH

KINZO designs and realizes the remodelling of a former factory floor. Especially challenging is the clients' requirement to create two independent and strictly separated work and living spaces while retaining the loft character with a wide and open floor plan.

KINZO solved the dilemma with the design of a compact kitchen and bathroom unit in addition to utilizing flexible dividers. Sliding doors with a veneer of African wenge permit a unique and functional separation of the available space without taking away from the spacious character of the loft. Kitchen and bathroom have been elevated onto a pedestal of smoked oak contrasting the smooth coolness of the white, epoxy resin painted floor. The combination of light floor and wall surfaces with dark structured wooden elements immerses the loft into unostentatious elegance.

Carefully thought-out details such as perforations made of glowing plexiglas tubes embedded into the wall between kitchen, bathroom and dressing room interrupt the simplistic design.
